Reimagined Ranch

From the moment we met the Furrer family we knew it was a great design fit. This family of 7 needed a functional home that would accommodate a huge downgrade in home size traded for the perfect home location in Cuba City, Wisconsin.

With the 8-foot ceilings and small room flow, Linda immediately  began envisioning opening up each room but without taking out all the walls - allowing for a great balance and flow while still creating enough seating and room for everyone to be close while in the upstairs area.

Laura began drawing out every square inch to ensure the perfect flow for the kitchen cabinet layout and laundry room functionality. With Linda’s wild suggestions of shifting garage doors and exterior walkout placements, Laura sure had her hands full but, per usual, she worked her magic to bring the vision to life.

When we think modern ranch we go clean-lined. No soffits, lots of light, bright walls, pops of color. We picked blue and the family was all in! We popped it through the living room art, the kitchen island, and the laundry room cabinets. Glass lighting from the ceiling was our go-to allowing for big moments but not taking away from the openness. Oversized flush mounts drew your eye to the ceiling creating the feel of bigger rooms.

From the moment you enter the front door the house feels so warm. We achieved that with the vinyl plank flooring. In picking just one color to use throughout and the direction of placement, you just feel the home come together. The light-colored slip cover chaise sectional, huge tv console, fun orange chair, wood elements complimented in benches and tables, as well as an oversized mirror in the open foyer make the small space feel so open and big. Add in pretty new white trim to flow with the kitchen cabinets and new windows throughout as well as the kitchen cabinets, and you would never know this house wasn’t torn down and rebuilt.

When you design a home with furniture in mind the outcome is different. It feels intentional and cohesive because it is. Everything just fits. Just like the Furrer family. Even though they started completely new, the feeling of their new designed life feels just like HOME!
