Get inspired to cook at home: Tips from us!

It’s easy to fall into the routine of eating out or ordering take-out when our lives are busy with work, school, kid functions, and other responsibilities. But have you ever noticed how much better you feel when you consistently eat at home? There are many reasons for this including fewer good additives, less sugar and fat, and better-quality ingredients that you get from home cooking. It’s also more expensive to eat out / order take-out.

Make no mistake, we wholeheartedly believe in supporting our favorite local restaurants, but we also believe in the power of home cooking and the sense of togetherness and connection that it can bring.

So how do you get inspired to cook from home? Here are a few of our favorite ways from our staff:

Amy: My favorite way is to make a meal plan for the week using all those recipes I’ve saved on Pinterest. I know I have thousands and you probably do too. Pick some new ones to work into a rotation. Try to mix up dishes that feature chicken, beef, pork, fish, and vegetarian. The variety helps you feel like you’re eating out at expensive restaurants too.

Linda: My life gets busy with clients, running the business, and making sure I’m there for my son Ethan’s games. When deciding what to make is too much of a burden, I like to use a meal prep service. They send you all the ingredients you need as well as instructions, you just have to cook it! I like to put my own spin on things with our Finch & Fennel line.

Laura: I like to add a few new touches to my kitchen. Whether your pans are in desperate need of an upgrade, or you just want a few new things to look forward to, cooking with new tools and setting a pretty place setting can rejuvenate the spirit for cooking and eating at home. Check out our blog on setting the perfect table.

All of us: Get inspired with new spices. Our Finch & Fennel line of spices and sauces is vast, meaning you could build weeks’ worth of meals trying something new each time. Some of our favorites include their lemon pepper, everything bagel, and the Finch & Fennel Seasoning blend. Check out this recipe for potato salad to bring to your next cookout. You can scan any of our spice bottles to pull up recipes and try something new! Our Spice of the Month club lets you try something new every month and includes a gift from Eastman Cartwright Home.
