2023 Interior Trend Predictions

2023 Interior Trend Predictions

Design your home with Eastman Cartwright Home

Interior design and style trends are ever changing in our world. When Joanna Gaines told us all that Farmhouse is life, we ran out to buy wood slats for our DIY shiplap accent walls. When mid-century modern trends took an uprise, we all began the hunt for the perfect wood pieces to match our new trendy rugs. There’s no shame in enjoying and engaging with the trends that come and go. As designers ourselves, we are committed to keeping our designs relevant, while also aligning selections for our clients with the look of their home and their personal styles.

As we begin to shop for our storefront, our (NEW!) online shopping collections, and for our interior design clients, we have collected a few of our favorite trends for 2023:

More COLOR

Muted neutrals and classic whites have taken the cake for years, but now, more often than not, we are loving designs that are fearless in their bold incorporation of color!

PATTERN Use

Not only are we beginning to see unique patterns in floor tile and fabric selections, but they are also being incorporated into bathroom and kitchen wall tile, wooden wall accents, furniture pieces, and more.

DARKER Wood

Deep, rich wood color is now replacing white paint and light stained or natural wood, and we are here for it!

Less MATCHING

The idea of a matching furniture set can be difficult for some to move away from, but we are loving a more gathered & found curation in a room. Intentionally finding pieces that you love that also work well together gives a distinct originality to the design of a room.

FLUTED + REEDED Glass/Wood Accents

We cannot get enough of the texture and energy being given to spaces now with fluted and reeded glass or wood accents. Cabinet doors, accent walls, furniture pieces, and so many other things are being beautifully upleveled with this trend!

While we love what’s happening in the design world with these trends, our goal is also to make predictions in design to keep our creations fresh and relevant. Our hope is that these predictions will also help to inform our clients and YOU with your interior design selections in 2023:

Functionality will be prioritized in furniture and decor.

Whether it’s wire bins that store this year’s best Colleen Hoover books, or dressers with deep drawers for each of your cozy sweaters, functionality is a timeless trend that we can get on board with. Instead of shopping for pieces simply to fill a wall or a corner, intentionally choosing pieces with a purpose will be seen more and more.

Lighting will take center stage as a statement and focus in a room.

No longer an afterthought, lighting selections will now be a way to start a room and define its style rather than a way to complete it. Bold lighting statement pieces are this year’s key to a well-designed space.

Each space will form its own identity within the cohesive style.

Although we believe in a home having an “umbrella” style, not every room has to fall under that umbrella in the same way. A unique wallpaper pattern or light fixture will differentiate one room from another.

Homeowners will want their spaces to look different from their neighbors.

Say goodbye to keeping up with the Joneses. This year, we predict that people will lean into their individuality and personality in the spaces of their homes instead of rushing out to buy the latest trendy furniture or art.

Gathered + Lived-In will replace Pinterest Perfect.

A Pinterest-Perfect home only spotlights the theme that *comparison is the thief of joy.* As we move more toward a movement of prioritizing self-care and self-love, our design styles also move to more acceptance around the way a home looks, and how it makes us feel.

Our goal is to empower people to create a space that aligns with their vision and their dreams. While trends can help to inform the decisions we make when designing and styling a home, a well-designed and curated home can last for years, or even decades. Being a part of these designs in any capacity is always such an honor. Whether we’re inspiring you with our blog posts or our projects on social media, designing for you in-person or through e-design, or sourcing decor and home furnishings in our store, our passion is vibrant in these spaces.
